Foraging Hands Story
Foraging Hands Story
Callie Kent is the Founder of Foraging Hands Collective. She is a passionate homemaker, artist, and educator. With eight years of experience in the educational field, Callie's pedagogical approach is a thoughtful synthesis of diverse philosophies.
Her journey began at Prescott College, where she earned a BA in Human Development, Psychology, and Arts & Letters, with an emphasis in Early Childhood Development. Here, she immersed herself in Waldorf Education and the teachings of Rudolf Steiner, aligning her life and practice with the Anthroposophical approach to health and development.
Seeking to expand her horizons, Callie later worked at a Reggio Emilia Child Development Center as an Early Childhood Development specialist in Solana Beach, CA. She valued the Reggio emphasis on child-centered inquiry and art as a form of expression, but ultimately found that existing educational binaries did not fully capture her vision.
Driven by the need for an environment that seamlessly integrates emotional regulation, nature as a learning modality, and child development, Callie returned to Prescott. She founded Foraging Hands Collective to move beyond traditional structures, offering a space that fosters self-directed learning and working with families seeking a truly integrated, holistic educational path.
She has previously held the professional titles of:
Art Teacher,
Camp Instructor,
After-School Program Leader,
Preschool Teacher,
First-Grade Main Lesson Teacher,
Assistant Director of a Summer Camp,
Early Childhood Development Specialist
